Spread along a mile-long stretch of sugary-white sand on Grand Bahama, just 55 miles off the Florida coast, the Grand Lucayan welcomes all visitors with its serene tropical ambience. The facilities of the Grand Lucayan are divided among three buildings, the largest being the 10-storey, S-shaped Art Deco-style Breakers Cay. The low-rise Lighthouse Pointe complex houses a number of suites, as well as the gym and the spa, while the secluded Lanai Suites building is the smallest of the three. Landscaped, flower-lined, palm-shaded paths lead from one building to another.
Three pools stretch along the beachfront. Outside Breakers Cay, a fairly shallow crescent pool snakes round to the sea and becomes an infinity pool that fronts the beach - here guests can swim up to the Hammerheads Pool Bar. Close to the Lanai Suites there is a narrow lap pool, and a large, serene infinity pool.
For additional relaxation there is the 25,000-square-foot Senses Spa, located in the Lighthouse Pointe building. The spa provides island-inspired signature treatments such as Peace, Relief and Joy, with Bahamian elements and ingredients such as healing herbs, and there are fragrant body wraps and essential oils facial treatments to renew your natural inner glow. Water treatments include rain massages, submerged massages and hydro baths in seaweed, or you can release your energy flow with the ancient healing techniques of a Swe-Thai Massage.
There is an ample choice of restaurants at the Grand Lucayan, in addition to off-property options at Port Lucaya marketplace. The place to go for fine dining is Churchill's, where you can enjoy Mediterranean cuisine to piano accompaniment, while the chic China Beach offers a culinary tour of the Pacific Rim, with menus inspired by the exotic flavours of Malaysia, Thailand, Indonesia and Vietnam. Willy Broadleaf draws inspiration from all over the globe, including Africa, India and Mexico, for dishes to be enjoyed in a variety of surroundings that could be an African village or a Mexican courtyard, and the Iries Restaurant is divided into themed rooms, dedicated to Puerto Rico, Cuba, Jamaica, and Trinidad and Tobago.
