The uniqueness of this magical resort largely lies in the artful fusion of Italian style, from its renowned Italian architect, with Asian elements, such as Balinese teak wood furniture and Vietnamese-style roofs, and Caribbean influences. Around the resort you can find carved coconut shells, and paintings by the famed Grenadian artist Canute Calliste, and all over the property you can spot the eyes of Tiki wooden gods, peering at you from bushes and trees. These hand-carved statues stand guard over all corners of the hotel -- by the beach, in the gardens, and in front of cottage doors -- emphasising the sense of contemporary cool.

At the centre of the resort is the striking main house, with its dramatic Vietnamese-inspired roof of elephant grass, and close by, the main pool is a blue oasis, set right on the white-sand beach so that it seems to be framed by the turquoise sea. Rising up from the heart of the resort, the 16 cottages are half-hidden in a mini-jungle on the steep verdant hillside. With the beach almost deserted, and the greenery and bushes on the property slightly overgrown, the surrounding silence and feeling of secrecy can be seductive, and is an exception for Grenada, where most other hotels are packed together in one corner of the island.

Close to the pool, the enchanting restaurant, with its hand-crafted woven palm roof supported by rough-hewn tree trunk beams, opens directly on to the beach, providing a romantic atmosphere enhanced by lanterns and warm, low lighting. Its exceptionally creative Italian chef uses fresh food imported direct from Italy, combined with produce from the hotel's own organic garden, to produce both delectable Italian dishes and delicious Caribbean specialities. The resort boasts a unique wine cellar, featuring the best vintages as well as undiscovered varieties from Italian vineyards.

The Laluna Resort is also known for its Wellness Sanctuary programme, which features a unique and beautiful wooden Yoga Pavilion on the beach, hosting daily yoga and Pilates classes. Behind the pavilion, a path leads through a charming fruit and vegetable garden to the enticing Balinese-style spa, half hidden in the tropical undergrowth behind the beach, featuring a couples room, a wetroom, and a tranquillity pavilion with a tea bar. The two Balinese therapists offer a variety of treatments, including tatami massage and stone therapy.
