Spectacularly set against a mountain backdrop, the Al Bustan Palace is an exquisite luxury hotel, known as the Jewel of the Sultanate. The award-winning Al Khiran Terrace Restaurant, overlooking the Gulf of Oman with fabulous views, is the hotel's all-day restaurant for indoor and outdoor meals, starting with its acclaimed breakfast buffet. As well as the international lunch buffet with five live cooking stations, the Al Khiran takes guests on a culinary round-the-world journey in seven days, with its daily buffet theme nights.
For more casual dining, the Beach Pavilion, set at the water's edge in a quiet bay, is a speciality restaurant serving both freshly caught local seafood, and an eclectic range of imported fish flown in daily. China Mood has established itself as one of the region's top Asian restaurants, and offers genuine cuisine from Canton, Szechwan and Shanghai, with kitchen staff flown in from those areas to ensure authenticity. Great care has been taken with the contemporary Chinese design of the restaurant, including details such as birdcages and panels decorated with ideograms, and pagoda tents for private dining.
For a particularly special dining experience, guests can take a shuttle bus to Seblat Al Bustan, the only restaurant of its kind in Oman. Traditional Omani cuisine is served in a tented Bedouin village set-up, located in the date plantation in the hotel grounds. There is live Omani music and folk dancing, with handicrafts on display, and guests can take part in bread-making demonstrations.
