Acclaimed as the Bahamas' most glamorous resort, the Sandals Royal Bahamian is truly one of the great hotels of the Caribbean. Situated along Nassau's famed Cable Beach, the resort promises an abundance of seductive couples-only activities, amid breathtaking natural splendour, but what makes it truly unique is the private offshore island, minutes away by free ferry-boat, offering secluded beaches, a lavish spa and an authentic Bahamian restaurant. The "Royal" in the name isn't just a word -- what is now the Balmoral Tower was in the 1940s and 50s the renowned Balmoral Club, a sought-after haunt of the world's rich and famous, from the Duke and Duchess of Windsor to the Beatles.
Perfectly blending European elegance with Caribbean charm, this resort enchants its guests from the moment they set foot in the dramatic lobby, with its frescoed ceilings and glittering chandeliers. Care has been taken to preserve elements of the past, and wandering through the lush tropical gardens guests can discover Graeco-Roman columns, historical artefacts and Art Nouveau touches in abundance. Throughout the resort there are seven pools and six whirlpools, with the two main pools next to the two towers offering contrasting atmospheres -- the Windsor Tower pool featuring music and a fun party theme, and the Balmoral pool, surrounded by firepits, providing more peace and refinement.
Food and beverage options here are equally impressive, with 8 bars and 10 speciality restaurants, including the famous Crystal Room, with its vintage chandelier highlighting the Caribbean's most glamorous dining space. The elegant Art Nouveau decor of the Baccarat Restaurant provides a splendid setting for its award-winning French cuisine, served by white-gloved waiters at tables in bay windows, while at Spices, with sea breezes wafting through open French doors, delectable Mediterranean and Caribbean dishes are prepared in full view in an open-show kitchen. On the island, you can savour the region's best seafood at Cafe Goombay, while enjoying spectacular views across the water.
