Tucked away in a tranquil garden enclave in the midst of the bustle of Singapore stands the Four Seasons Hotel, fully living up to the reputation of the Four Seasons brand. Fresh from a multi-million dollar makeover by a distinguished firm of architects, the hotel is a British colonial-era gem, its low-rise 20-storey structure contrasting with the neighbouring skyscrapers. It enjoys an ideal location, just minutes from Orchard Road and the city's major attractions.
As you pass through the front doors, almost hidden behind a wall of tropical greenery, you will be impressed by the ornate lobby with its dramatic domed ceiling, gold Chinese screen and black marble table, all festooned in beautiful flower arrangements. From the lobby an imposing staircase leads to the Chinese restaurant and conference room on the second floor, and the lounge with aquarium, gym and pool on the next floor up. Throughout the public areas and rooms, the hotel showcases more than 1,500 original artworks from all over Asia.
The pool on the third floor, with adjacent whirlpool, is an outdoor lap pool that functions as a quiet pool for adults, and there is also a rooftop family pool on the 20th floor, where children can play freely. Another impressive feature is the two indoor air-conditioned tennis courts, in addition to the outdoor courts, which very few other hotels offer. The award-winning spa is a beautiful and tranquil space, with a full menu of treatments using the purest ingredients.
Dining at the Four Seasons is a blend of the familiar and the extraordinary, with the signature restaurant One-Ninety specialising in fine dining steaks and wood-fired seafood, remodelled in a contemporary and classy style. It offers a unique dining experience for groups called "The Chef's Table" where you can watch the chefs performing theatrically before your eyes. You can also enjoy innovative and tasty Cantonese cuisine at Jiang-Nan Chun, the name meaning "south of the Yang-tse River in spring-time" - the Art Nouveau décor, and the gallery of artworks, making the setting as memorable as the food.
