Within the spectacular Lhaviyani Atoll, known for its tranquillity and its abundant colourful marine life, the Atmosphere Kanifushi stretches along 2 kilometres of white sand, azure lagoon waters and tropical palms. Part of the newly-launched Atmosphere brand of Indian Ocean resorts, the hotel only opened its doors in December 2013. The aim of the brand is to showcase the rich culture and warm hospitality of the Maldives, alongside the unique natural beauty of the area, and to submerge guests in a true Maldivian experience.
With the emphasis on showcasing Maldivian hospitality, the resort has been designed and built with a fusion of contemporary and traditional architecture, resulting in an overall modern style while preserving the Maldivian spirit. Arriving guests are greeted by a group of drummers beating out Maldivian rhythms, with a party of hotel managers clapping along and smiling a welcome. After enjoying a refreshing glass of champagne, the guests are whisked to their accommodation in one of the plentiful golf buggies, which transport people up and down the 2-kilometre length of the resort, and are easy to wave down.
There is a wide selection of complimentary activities available for guests, including sunset fishing and snorkelling, as well as a gym and a floodlit tennis court. The secluded Akiri Spa, surrounded by azure lagoon waters, features six double treatment villas with views of the sea, each with an outdoor bath and shower, as well as Jacuzzi, steam and sauna facilities. The spacious relaxation lounge, with breathtaking ocean views, provides a perfect venue for absorbing the calmness of the serene environment, before and after treatment. The spa offer a range of Asian-inspired health and beauty treatments, including Ayurveda therapy, for the balancing of mind and body.
The resort's main restaurant is The Spice, which is open for breakfast, lunch and dinner, and offers both sumptuous international buffets, and an à la carte grill with live cooking stations, as well as hosting various themed evenings. Another exciting dining option is the Teppenyaki Grill, where guests share a table that surrounds a large hot plate, and enjoy the theatrical spectacle of the chef twirling, flipping and flaming raw ingredients into delicious dinners, mainly including fresh meat and seafood -- and chilled or hot sake on the side is a must. Just Veg is the first pure vegetarian restaurant in the Maldives, and aims to redefine contemporary vegetarian cuisine by experimenting with original and surprising flavour combinations.
