As the only resort in Barbados dedicated exclusively to couples, the extensively renovated Sandals Barbados provides an idyllic retreat for all those seeking a romantic tryst with a loved one. Newly re-opened in 2015, with a unique design that sets it apart both from others in the Sandals chain and from all other Barbados hotels, it brings five-star opulence, plus the special Sandals Luxury Included ethos, to this chic Caribbean playground. Gracefully overlooking the dazzling white sands of Dover Beach, and with a backdrop of luxuriant tropical foliage and fragrant flowers, the resort provides all the ingredients for a romantic holiday in paradise.
As you enter the resort through the beautiful coral stone gates, and drive past lush gardens to the elegant open-sided lobby, you find the staff waiting to give you a warm Caribbean welcome. The lobby is in the centre of the resort, along with the restaurants and resort amenities, while further out there are three beautiful pools, including the largest lagoon pool in Barbados, and the longest river pool in the Caribbean. By day guests can join in activities or simply get lost in the tropical gardens. and at night can relax to the carefree island rhythms, socialising with a cocktail around romantic fire pits, or enjoying authentic Caribbean music and entertainment.
The resort centre also features a glamorous piazza, European in style but with a Caribbean vibe, around which many of the 11 restaurants and 9 bars are built. Among these is the upscale New York-style Butch's Chophouse, named after Sandals' founder and chairman, while across the piazza is the Bombay Club, Sandals' very first Indian restaurant. At Kimonos Oriental Restaurant you can join a group round a traditional teppenyaki table, and watch a theatrical display as your food is cooked before your eyes, or you can relax at the Merry Monkey English pub, named after the island's native green monkeys, which can be heard playing in the palm trees at sunset.
