The resort really does seem away from it all, as it is an hour's rather bumpy ride from Punta Cana airport, but it is this remoteness that makes it such a tranquil retreat - peace is so important that even cars are banned from the site. Dining here is equally luxurious, with four gourmet à la carte restaurants that use only organic, locally-sourced ingredients. If you like the idea of Dominican specialities, head for the elegant Amaya Restaurant, or you can enjoy a romantic meal right beside the water at Indigo, which serves grills and light international fare. At Olena you can enjoy European specialities, enhanced by fine vintage wines, while Piragua provides sensational Creole and Latin American fusions cuisine. In addition there are three attractive bars and a cafe, and a daily afternoon tea features live plant tea infusions.
If you should get tired of relaxing on the sublime beach, or beside the beautiful pools, you will never be bored, as the hotel offers a wide variety of beach, land and water activities as part of its Endless Privileges programme. Kayaking, snorkelling and surfing can be enjoyed at sea, along with tennis, volleyball, biking and yoga on dry land.
