This modern yet timeless property, located in one of LA's trendiest neighbourhoods, offers a Venetian-inspired escape from the bustle of the city, yet is only a few minutes' walk from the fabulous shopping of Rodeo Drive.
In keeping with the hotel's air of elegance and class, guests arriving in the chic boutique lobby are met, not with a reception desk, but with a glamorous sunken bar, where they are welcomed with a signature Bellini cocktail and a personalised check-in. The polished rosewood lobby features travertine marble flooring beneath a luminous glass chandelier, and a grand piano sits next to a unique G-1 glass pool table and a majestic chesterfield sofa, for relaxing with a drink in the glow of the fireplace. The walls are adorned with black and white photographs of iconic moments in Hollywood history.
The open doors lead to a canopied terrace overlooking the walled courtyard garden, where birds of paradise swoop amongst palms and citrus trees, mingling with English roses. Beyond is the shimmering hotel pool, surrounded by a teak deck reminiscent of a luxury yacht, with daybeds, furnished cabanas and a full-service bar. During the summer months there are twice-monthly poolside screenings of popular films, accompanied by drinks and food.
In a hotel run by the Cipriani family, expectations of dining will be sky-high, and indeed the restaurant here is quintessentially Cipriani, featuring both classic Cipriani dishes dating back to 1931, and American cuisine infused with Mediterranean and Asian accents, as well as the famous Sunday Brunch with live jazz performances. The large doors are open to views of the pool and gardens, the glassware and the dark wood décor manifest the family's heritage, and the walls are decorated with vintage-style sconces that glow amber in the subdued lighting. Many of the ingredients for the chef's inspired creations are grown in the courtyard garden, among the roses and palm trees.
The 12th floor of the hotel boasts a stunning Event Space, including an elegant ballroom with floor-to-ceiling windows affording panoramic views of Beverly Hills. The hotel has an intimate spa with just two rooms, offering body wraps, aromatherapy and Swedish massages, as well as facials and body scrubs, and there is a compact fitness centre for working out.
