The resort's large main dual-temperature pool, open to all guests, with breathtaking views of the ocean, has an infinity edge and a palapa swim-up bar, and is surrounded by stylish padded lounge chairs. The near-by Preferred Club pool and Jacuzzi, also with beach views, is more serene, and guests here have the advantage of a poolside drinks service, where drinks can be brought to them on their daybeds. Guests can also use the pool at the neighbouring Secrets Wild Orchid resort, which also has a swim-up bar.
The hotel offers an impressive array of dining options -- the 9 restaurants are shared with the Wild Orchid resort, but are all individual and elegant, each housed in its own free-standing structure, with its own distinctive decor. A relaxed lunch can be enjoyed at World Cafe, which provides international and local dishes in grand buffet style, or in a more intimate setting with ocean views at the Seaside Grill, serving American and Tex Mex cuisine. Dinner choices include the French restaurant Bordeaux, offering contemporary Gallic delicacies along with classic wines, the Blue Mountain for Caribbean cooking with a tropical island flavour, or Himitsu for pan-Asian fusion at its finest. There are weekly beach parties featuring dinner by the sea, along with live entertainment.
Evenings at Secrets St James are casual and relaxed, with dancing to live music at the Cuban-themed Piano Bar, or at Desires Nightclub and Sports Bar. Nightly entertainment is provided at the state-of-the-art open-air theatre, where the resort's own performers put on live shows. The Casino is open round the clock, seven nights a week.
