A legendary hotel that is the embodiment of Las Vegas opulence, Bellagio dazzles your senses from the moment you set eyes on the renowned dancing fountains, choreographed to light and music, at the entrance. But despite its fame, and the fact that it features in so many big-budget films, the Bellagio isn't all about glitz and glamour -- it's a stellar combination of elegance and grace with the ultimate in modern luxury. And even though it's huge, with nearly 4,000 rooms, its gracious and personalised service, and its restful and quiet decor, succeeds in making every guest feel special.
Inspired by the scenery of northern Italy, the Mediterranean-blue 12-acre lake into which the fountains play is the focal point of the hotel, but is merely a foretaste of the delights to come. As you enter the lobby you are confronted by a colourful explosion of giant glass flower-petals, in Dale Chihuly's celebrated ceiling sculpture Fiori di Como, and at the end of the lobby is the stunning Conservatory and Botanical Garden, with a display of over 20,000 blooms that changes with the seasons. Beyond is the Italian-themed courtyard complex, inspired by the villages of Lake Como, with cypress trees, Tuscan walkways, and five swimming pools, each featuring a hand-carved stone fountain in its centre.
There is a host of outstanding restaurants, most either grouped round the edge of the lake, or overlooking the Botanical Gardens, offering a beautiful setting as well as fine dining -- such as Picasso, with two Michelin Stars, and original Picasso paintings adorning the walls. Le Cirque, also Michelin-starred, specialising in exquisite French cuisine, is one of the city's top celebrity dining destinations, while Michael Mina also boasts a Michelin star, and delivers signature seafood and fish dishes with Japanese and French influences. Other places to see and be seen in Las Vegas include Fix for American cuisine, and Todd English's Olives with its sophisticated Mediterranean fare, and Yellowtail is known as one of the Strip's best Japanese and sushi eateries.
There is plenty more to enjoy at Bellagio -- its Casino is known as one of the best on the Strip, while the glass-enclosed Via Bellagio features deluxe top-name boutiques including Armani, Louis Vuitton and Prada. In the specially designed theatre, with a stage that doubles as a swimming pool, you can marvel at Cirque du Soleil's stunning performances of "O". And after all the excitement you can relax at the Art Gallery, or chill out at the 65,000-square-foot Spa Bellagio, with its meditation room with water running down the walls.
